Summary

4 starsRereading the portion of this series that I read years ago has been an interesting exercise in seeing whether it would hold up to my memories。 It really has been such a long time since my last reading, perhaps two decades, and my memories of these books are more scraps and bits than anything。 It's almost like reading them anew because of the details I don't remember until they arise。I was afraid they wouldn't hold up to the amount of love I had for them in high school but to my surprise, 4 starsRereading the portion of this series that I read years ago has been an interesting exercise in seeing whether it would hold up to my memories。 It really has been such a long time since my last reading, perhaps two decades, and my memories of these books are more scraps and bits than anything。 It's almost like reading them anew because of the details I don't remember until they arise。I was afraid they wouldn't hold up to the amount of love I had for them in high school but to my surprise, for the most part they have。 This book felt much better paced than the first, though the first didn't drag for me terribly while I was reading it。 But things have definitely picked up in this second volume and the whole things moves right along。 We get to see the White Tower with Egwene and Nynaeve and explore a lot more of the rest of the world with Rand and later Perrin and Mat。 And of course the Hunt for the Horn of Valere plays its very important part。The world building continues to be deep and fascinating, the characters have, in my opinion even improved and I'm very happy at the idea of finally reading the series in its entirety。 Now I'm off to book three。 。。。more

The Wheel of TimeAfter decades of my love of reading, I have been introduced to this series and it has grabbed and sucked me in like no other。 Getting away from reality is a challenge but once you pass the first 66 pages in book one, you are in the presence of Kings,Queens and people with special abilities。 Let's throw in a hunt for a Horn and a Lord who denies himself and you have an adventure worth living。 My BFF turned me into this series, along with a podcast on YouTube called The Way of the The Wheel of TimeAfter decades of my love of reading, I have been introduced to this series and it has grabbed and sucked me in like no other。 Getting away from reality is a challenge but once you pass the first 66 pages in book one, you are in the presence of Kings,Queens and people with special abilities。 Let's throw in a hunt for a Horn and a Lord who denies himself and you have an adventure worth living。 My BFF turned me into this series, along with a podcast on YouTube called The Way of the Leaf which airs Tuesday evening at 7:30。 That opened another world lost to me for years。 I am so intrigued with this series as there are so many twists and plots you cannot look into the future of it without reading it all。 I am so happy to be enjoying adventures through out the span of time。 I would surely recommend it to any and all ages。 It is so sweet to read a book again that focuses on telling a story and not filled with vulgarity。 Thank you, Kay, for the introduction to superior reading。 Enjoy 。。。more

Nije fer pričati o svom omiljenom serijalu, ali je on za mene ono što pripovijedanje znači - uvići te u priču toliko da zaboraviš da ti je prošla pauza na poslu。A i stiže serija ajajajajaja, mora sve sve iščitati。

It's all suitably epic, but I have to admit the the major characters managed to consistently annoy me。 They were all a bit too whiny and a bit too pointlessly mulish about the events surrounding them。And things are not helped by the fact that far too many of the plot points rely on these characters being stupid, naive or both。 It's all suitably epic, but I have to admit the the major characters managed to consistently annoy me。 They were all a bit too whiny and a bit too pointlessly mulish about the events surrounding them。And things are not helped by the fact that far too many of the plot points rely on these characters being stupid, naive or both。 。。。more

I thought The Eye of the World was great and all, but even this is a step up。 It let's go of the more trope-y and Tolkien-y stuff to finally find it's own identity。 There were some absolutely incredible scenes, and all of the characters are much improved, all finding their own identity and motivations。 My favorite characters so far are Rand, Mat, Moiraine, and Nynaeve。 I really wish Moiraine was in this more but I understand why RJ would've wanted her to go M。I。A for most of the book, so that th I thought The Eye of the World was great and all, but even this is a step up。 It let's go of the more trope-y and Tolkien-y stuff to finally find it's own identity。 There were some absolutely incredible scenes, and all of the characters are much improved, all finding their own identity and motivations。 My favorite characters so far are Rand, Mat, Moiraine, and Nynaeve。 I really wish Moiraine was in this more but I understand why RJ would've wanted her to go M。I。A for most of the book, so that the characters could stop relying on her to get out of their messes。 The pacing was really fast paced and even unrelenting at times, and the climax was far more satisfying and impressive than that of TEOTW, even though I will defend the ending of that book (for the most part)。 I really enjoyed seeing more of the world and starting to understand how channeling works。 This book was seriously great, honestly it's incredibly close to being a 5/5 and I may come back to change it in the future。Now on to The Dragon Reborn, which I have pretty high hopes for after this book。 。。。more

Fantastic, builds on the plot of the first book and further enriches/expands upon the beautiful world-building done by Jordan。 Ending is edge-of-your seat amazing, culminating in a confrontation that could easily serve as the ultimate climax of a lesser story。 Truly stunned that there are 12 more of these to read, dear god。

I have forgotten so much of the story, good time for a reread to refresh my memory of the details。

This was so incredibly boring and lacked the unexpected charms I found in the first one。 While I didn’t particularly like Rand in the first book, I was neutral to him, but he seemed to regress in The Great Hunt and I found him to be unnecessarily petulant and annoying。 And WHY was literally EVERY woman they came across so thirsty for him??? To the point that it’s sowing dislike among the main girls?? This book was basically everything I feared Eye of the World would be。 Nynaeve is still my favourite, she can do no wrong。 Neither can Loial。 Anyway this story had better pick up in the next book。 。。。more

Listening to this audiobook in the last month of MCAT studying kept me sane but also tested the limits of my self-control。 Ultimately, I had to stop all listening because it was getting too distracting and promised myself that I'd continue after my exam, and here we are。。。。。 Listening to this audiobook in the last month of MCAT studying kept me sane but also tested the limits of my self-control。 Ultimately, I had to stop all listening because it was getting too distracting and promised myself that I'd continue after my exam, and here we are。。。。。 。。。more

World building stayed consistently strong, possibly arguably better than the first book。 That being said the story in this second installment wasn’t as interesting as the first and I felt the reveals and plot twists were either telegraphed or given little time to build up and breathe that they fell short of the breathtaking moments they could have been。 If I could give a 3。5 star rating I would。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Just finished reading The Great Hunt, book #2 in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan。 At a lengthy 681 pages, this sequel to The Eye of the World pulled me even deeper into the world of Ogier, Aes Sedai, saidar and saidin, and the stories of Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene, and Nynaeve。 Though I am still intimidated by the sheer size of this series, given that I’ve only read 2 out of the 14 books, I have to say I really enjoyed this read and might have to go to the bookstore to pick up book #3 t Just finished reading The Great Hunt, book #2 in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan。 At a lengthy 681 pages, this sequel to The Eye of the World pulled me even deeper into the world of Ogier, Aes Sedai, saidar and saidin, and the stories of Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene, and Nynaeve。 Though I am still intimidated by the sheer size of this series, given that I’ve only read 2 out of the 14 books, I have to say I really enjoyed this read and might have to go to the bookstore to pick up book #3 tonight。 It also helps that the trailer for the Amazon Prime adaptation just dropped a few days ago, and it was so exciting to see some glimpses of the show maker’s vision for the adaptation!Though I am dying to read book #3 I have a lot of other stuff on my reading list, so I may take a break from this behemoth series to get in some shorter works。 ⬇️ More specific comments below ⬇️ Highlights of this book for me were seeing the developments of Rand as he takes on more responsibility and begins to explore his relationship to saidin。 Though the book continues to lean heavily on Tolkienesque settings and the “chosen one” trope, the unique elements of the One Power, portal stones, and waygates make this series fresh and invigorating to read about! Having recently watched the Marvel/Disney+ series Loki, I can’t help but wonder if they were lifting some major inspiration from the concepts in this book, such as the portal stones and ta’averen。 Additionally, this book introduces the politics of Cairhein, the Ogier society of Stedding Shangtai, and the absolutely terrifying armies of Seanchan。 The sul’dam/damane dynamic was truly chilling to read about! 。。。more

I have the same issues with this as I had with book 1 (some lengths, characters a bit annoying), but overall a strong sequel to “The Eye of the World”。 I especially like how everyone‘s journeys are somewhat individual but at the same time connected。 My favorite character changed as well over the course of the novel (it used to be Moraine and now it is Nynaeve) and we have a total of 5 relevant and important female characters now, all of them relevant to the story and not solely love interests, y I have the same issues with this as I had with book 1 (some lengths, characters a bit annoying), but overall a strong sequel to “The Eye of the World”。 I especially like how everyone‘s journeys are somewhat individual but at the same time connected。 My favorite character changed as well over the course of the novel (it used to be Moraine and now it is Nynaeve) and we have a total of 5 relevant and important female characters now, all of them relevant to the story and not solely love interests, yay! 。。。more

The first one was a similar theme to LOTR。 I think this one is a lot better。 I am glad I decided to go on with the series。

Book 1 ended on a high note and now Book 2 mainly kept up that intensity all the way through。 Love the plot and writing, but I mainly love the characters and their relationships。 The only reason I wouldn't say 5 stars is because the general outline of the book is another travel log type of plot, but otherwise I'm excited to keep going! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 4。5 Epic! I was grinning like a fool towards the end, pacing as I read。 I love the bliss that final battles elicit in fantasy novels, I love that rush。 And I wasn’t, as I was in the first book, disappointed。 So many threads are weaving together expertly in this novel, and it becomes more complex and interesting as the story continues。 Let’s be honest, I’m definitely going to start the third one as soon as the library opens。 I loved the beginning of the novel - it opened up with a bang, with the 4。5 Epic! But so many great moments: political intrigue of rhe Game, Thom Thom Thom (!!!), Egwene’s whole enslavement story arc with the amazing liberation by Nynaeve, and the final battle。 I loved Nynaeve, Thom, and Perrin - again。 And Rand grew on me more。 Fantastic plot, great world building expansion, and epic battles。 Looking forward to more。 。。。more

The Great Hunt is a Great sequel。This was a journey with few ups and downs (pacing wise) throughout but the last act was worth it。 Magnificent。 The characters branch off on their own paths。 Rand is less intolerable in this one。 I'm waiting for his character to win me over。 Perrin and Loial are still my favourites。Add Nyneave to the list too。 Hurin is such a Great addition to the cast of characters。 I hope we get to see more of him soon。 Egwene。 I want her to go all dark cuz what happened。And als The Great Hunt is a Great sequel。This was a journey with few ups and downs (pacing wise) throughout but the last act was worth it。 Magnificent。 The characters branch off on their own paths。 Rand is less intolerable in this one。 I'm waiting for his character to win me over。 Perrin and Loial are still my favourites。Add Nyneave to the list too。 Hurin is such a Great addition to the cast of characters。 I hope we get to see more of him soon。 Egwene。 I want her to go all dark cuz what happened。And also Mat's dagger。 HELLO???? 。。。more

A Fascinating World ContinuedR。 Jordan's World is interesting and original。 The 2nd book continues on the story of 5 who set out from their village with evil on their trail。 The characters have been built upon and have their own story line continued in this book。 The story is fascinating and at times surprising。 Highly recommended。 A Fascinating World ContinuedR。 Jordan's World is interesting and original。 The 2nd book continues on the story of 5 who set out from their village with evil on their trail。 The characters have been built upon and have their own story line continued in this book。 The story is fascinating and at times surprising。 Highly recommended。 。。。more

Weellll, this suprised me! The Great Hunt makes brilliant steps from The Eye of The World, in my opinion。 It becomes its own thing and I love that。 I often thought of this book when I wasn’t reading it, and that’s when you know that something is good。 Read it quite fast (for me), especially if comparing it to the first book that took me about a year。。。yikes Still, I wasn’t feeling a 5 star。。。because it felt slow at times and my attention shifted。。。missed some things lol,,, that’s really on me, b Weellll, this suprised me! WOT is an immersive, slow paced fantasy。 I enjoyed the beginning and end of this book, but many of the middle chapters were a chore to read。 I can’t help but feel that Robert Jordan could have benefitted from a more voracious editing process。
